Perpignan, or in Catalan Perpinya, is situated only 22 kilometres from Fitou. This lively, colourful city, whose beginnings go back to the 10th century, is a beautiful mixture of southern France and Catalonia. Incidentally, Perpignan was the capital of the kingdom Majorca in the 13th century. The Palais des Rois is still to this day a powerful symbol from this time. You can stroll here for hours through the alleys, markets, visit unusual shops, nice cafés and restaurants. You will not notice how quickly time passes by.
